Carrier aims to capture holiday travel demand between South Korea and China

Jejuair announced Monday it will resume service on the Incheon–Guilin route and launch charter flights on the Daegu–Guilin route starting late September.

The Incheon–Guilin route will resume Sept. 23 with four weekly flights — on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays — while the Daegu–Guilin charter service will begin Sept. 24 with two weekly flights on Thursdays and Sundays. Both routes are confirmed through Oct. 24, when the summer schedule ends, and the airline said it is pursuing regulatory approval to extend operations through November.

On the Incheon–Guilin route, flights depart Incheon International Airport at 10:20 p.m. (local time) and arrive at Guilin Liangjiang International Airport at 1:20 a.m. the following day. The return leg departs Guilin at 2:20 a.m. and arrives in Incheon at 7:05 a.m.

On the Daegu–Guilin route, flights depart Daegu International Airport at 8 p.m. and arrive at Guilin Liangjiang International Airport at 10:45 p.m. The return service departs Guilin at 12:30 a.m. and arrives in Daegu at 5:05 a.m.

Guilin, whose name means "forest of sweet osmanthus trees," is one of China's most celebrated scenic destinations. The city is known for its striking karst landscape and the panoramic views along the Li River, and draws visitors with outdoor activities including rock climbing, camping and cave exploration.

The period from late September through November is widely regarded as the best time to visit, offering relatively cool weather and vivid autumn scenery.

October in particular sees strong demand for travel to China, as public holidays in both South Korea and China overlap during the month. According to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's aviation information portal, total passengers on China routes last October reached about 1.54 million — the third-highest monthly figure of the year, trailing only the summer peak months of July and August.

"Taking into account seasonal demand around the chuseok holiday and the October break, we have added Guilin flights from Incheon and Daegu, following our Busan service," a Jejuair official said. "We will continue to operate our routes flexibly, actively reflecting customer travel demand and market conditions."

Jejuair has surpassed 5 million cumulative passengers on its China routes since launching its first regular service on the Incheon–Qingdao route in June 2012.
