Kim Seung-won, nominee for minister of justice, answered reporters' questions Monday morning as he arrived at his confirmation hearing preparation office in the Jeokseon Hyundai Building in Jongno-gu, Seoul. Kim faces allegations that in 2021 he lobbied the then-head of the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, at the request of a broker surnamed Yang, to approve clinical trials for a COVID-19 treatment developed by pharmaceutical company Genescel.
