Korea Investment & Securities announced Monday it will hold the seventh edition of its domestic stock trading competition, "Han-tu Battle," for four weeks through Oct. 2.

The competition is designed to broaden participation by tailoring programs to participants' age and investment experience. A newly introduced "20s Rookie Challenge" aims to give customers in their 20s an accessible and engaging introduction to real-world investing. The challenge consists of five stages, with reward coupons awarded upon completion of each stage.

A "Weekly Trading Challenge" open to all age groups will also run alongside the main event, offering prizes by lottery to customers who meet weekly trading conditions. A separate event has been set up for participants who apply but fail to meet the minimum investment of 100,000 won ($74) required to enter the main league. Customers who later qualify for the main league and execute trades of at least 10,000 won will be entered into a draw for Subway mobile coupons.

The competition also marks the industry's first introduction of an "Open API League," in which participants can use open APIs, AI and other technologies to set their own investment conditions and execute trades automatically. The company plans to use the league to expand participation among customers interested in algorithmic trading and other technology-driven investment strategies.

Korea Investment & Securities previously held a Han-tu Battle over roughly four weeks in August and September, drawing attention with a newly added "Friend Referral Challenge." In July, the company partnered with fashion platform Musinsa to host a trading competition aimed at attracting customers in their 20s and 30s.

"The seventh Han-tu Battle has been structured to welcome a wide range of participants — from investors in their 20s just starting out to technology-driven traders using open APIs," a company official said. "We will continue to develop this into a participatory investment competition that embraces diverse generations and investment styles."
