A sunflower field in Maejeon-myeon, Cheongdo-gun, North Gyeongsang Province, is in full bloom, delighting visitors and passersby.
Cheongdo-gun said Monday the flower garden was created by making use of a previously neglected idle plot of 1,020 square meters. Seeds were sown in June, and the site was tended throughout the hot summer months with regular weeding and watering before yielding its colorful results.
Cheongdo-gun Mayor Park Gwon-hyeon said he hoped "the wave of sunflowers blooming along the road into the township will serve as a warm welcome to everyone who visits the area," adding that he wished visitors would "take a leisurely rest amid the yellow scenery and carry home happy memories."
