Coverage extends 3 years from delivery, including after manufacturer warranty expires

Coupang Inc announced Monday that it has expanded its "Coupang Ansim Care" insurance service to cover furniture, introducing what it called the industry's first free furniture warranty and damage insurance.

The furniture Ansim Care insurance covers repair costs for furniture purchased on Coupang that is damaged by external impact or breaks down after the manufacturer's basic warranty period expires. Coverage lasts up to three years from the date of delivery, including the manufacturer's original warranty period.

The scope of coverage reflects common real-life concerns. For accidents caused by external impact — such as damage to bed or sofa frames and legs — repair costs are covered up to twice. Functional defects such as wardrobe hinges or dresser drawer rails are covered without limit on the number of claims, even after the manufacturer's warranty has ended.

Customers can choose a coverage limit ranging from 100,000 won ($74) to 5 million won, depending on their needs. Regardless of furniture type, premiums are set at 45,000 won for a two-year plan and 60,000 won for a three-year plan, based on a 1 million won coverage limit.

The claims process has also been simplified. Customers who have completed repairs can file a claim easily through the Lotte Non-Life Insurance app. Actual repair work is carried out by service centers or partners officially designated by the manufacturer.

Coupang currently operates the insurance program through major brands that provide after-sales repair services, including Iloom, Casamia, Hanssem, Desker and Sidiz. The company said it plans to consistently expand the lineup of participating brands and combine the insurance with its "Rocket Install" delivery and installation service to deliver a higher-level shopping experience.
