Musinsa Beauty announced Monday it is teaming up with Onnuri Pharmacy, South Korea's largest pharmacy chain, to launch a "Pharmacy Beauty" retail channel that blends cosmetics and pharmacy services. The strategy aims to bring pharmaceutical expertise into a beauty store setting as a new form of retail.

The first Pharmacy Beauty location will be Musinsa Beauty Hongdae, opening Friday near Hongdae in Mapo-gu, Seoul. The health-and-beauty platform will offer personalized curation centered on high-performance cosmetics and ingestible beauty products, drawing on the expertise of pharmacists.

The store spans approximately 1,320 square meters across four floors — one below ground and three above. Onnuri Pharmacy will occupy the entire basement level, with a retail floor area of 176 square meters. The two companies signed a partnership agreement last month to formalize their collaboration in the pharmacy beauty segment.

The partnership was driven by a growing trend among beauty consumers who prioritize product efficacy and function. The goal is to create a one-stop shopping environment where customers can browse and purchase pharmacy-exclusive products tailored to their skin concerns, alongside related medications, all under one roof. The two companies are collaborating from the product-selection stage onward.

An Onnuri Pharmacy pharmacist will be on-site at all times to help customers choose products. Dedicated curation zones for hair and scalp care and for acne and skin-trouble care will offer specialized consultations and product discovery. Customers can explore cosmetics and medications suited to their individual needs based on professional pharmacist guidance.

"As more customers carefully examine the function and efficacy of products before finding what works for them, demand for a more professional experience in beauty shopping is growing," a Musinsa Beauty official said. "We will work together so that customers can enjoy a wide and expert K-beauty shopping experience all in one place."
