Kyungpook National University announced Monday that it will admit 4,530 students through its early admissions process for the 2027 academic year.

Applications will be accepted online through the university's website and designated admissions portals from 9 a.m. Monday through 6 p.m. Friday.

By admissions track, the university will select 2,154 students through the school record (academic subject) track, 1,620 through the comprehensive school record track, 550 through the essay (AAT) track, and 206 through the practical skills and special talent (athletics) track.

The school record (academic subject) track combines school record scores at 80 percent and a document evaluation of academic coursework fulfillment at 20 percent. Differentiated minimum College Scholastic Ability Test score requirements apply to most departments.

Under the comprehensive school record track, the single-round evaluation method selects students based entirely on document review, while the multi-stage method uses document review in the first round and a combination of document review at 70 percent and an interview at 30 percent in the second.

The Mobile Science Talent track weighs document review and interview equally at 50 percent each in the second stage. The essay track combines essay scores at 70 percent and school record at 30 percent.

A notable addition this cycle is a regional physician selection track within the comprehensive school record track for the pre-medicine program, which will recruit a total of 26 students.

Seats are allocated by region: four for the Pohang area, five for Gyeongju, two for Andong, five for Gumi, one for Yeongju, one for Sangju, and eight for the broader metropolitan area.

For applicants to medical and pharmaceutical programs — including pre-medicine, pre-dentistry, pre-veterinary medicine and pharmacy — the minimum CSAT requirement will shift from a mandatory social studies or science component to a mandatory mathematics component.

The university is also launching a new College of AI to develop core talent in artificial intelligence, with the inaugural class to be recruited across the Department of AI Systems, the School of Computer Science and Engineering (Advanced Computing track), the School of Computer Science and Engineering (Advanced AI Computing track), and the AI Autonomous Studies program.

Within the College of IT, the School of Electronic Engineering will add a new Samsung Electronics employment-linked contract department: the Mobile AI Engineering program, offered as a combined bachelor's and master's degree.

Interviews for the comprehensive school record track are scheduled for Nov. 21, and the essay examination will be held Nov. 28. Final admission results will be announced Dec. 18.
