Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon attended the Seoul International Fireworks Festival 2026 on Saturday evening at Yeouido Han River Park, celebrating the event as a showcase of the city's diverse appeal and urging visitors to enjoy the festivities safely and in an orderly manner.
Now in its 22nd year, the Seoul International Fireworks Festival 2026 with Hanwha draws more than 1 million visitors annually. This year, for the first time, the event ran over two days — a preview night on Friday and the main show on Saturday.
Oh put in place a comprehensive plan covering traffic, safety and visitor services to ensure a safe event, and personally visited the site on Thursday to conduct a safety inspection.
"The Seoul International Fireworks Festival opens just as the city's autumn cultural calendar kicks off with events such as Frieze Seoul and Seoul Art Week, and I hope it will create wonderful memories for visitors from home and abroad," Oh said. "Seoul has established itself as Asia's leading city for culture and the arts, with no shortage of things to see and do. I hope all citizens will join us in enjoying this festival, which has become one of Korea's most celebrated events in the eyes of the world."
He also thanked the civil servants, police, fire department personnel and volunteers who worked to keep the event safe and orderly, as well as Seoul residents for demonstrating civic maturity.
