Partnership with server developer KTNF and immersion-cooling equipment maker GST
S-Oil announced Thursday it will develop immersion-cooling technology for AI data centers in partnership with domestic server developer KTNF and immersion-cooling equipment specialist Global Standard Technology (GST).
The collaboration aims to verify the performance and reliability of immersion-cooling technology, address power consumption and heat management challenges in AI data centers, and establish a domestic immersion-cooling supply chain.
The three companies plan to conduct integrated pilot tests linking servers, immersion-cooling fluid and immersion-cooling equipment. S-Oil will supply its immersion-cooling fluid "S-Oil e-Cooling Solution" for pilot tests at a micro data center at KTNF's headquarters, while GST will handle equipment operation and performance verification.
Through the pilot program, the three companies expect to validate immersion-cooling technology under real data center operating conditions and lay the groundwork for expanding the domestic data center market. They also plan to build a domestic immersion-cooling value chain — connecting servers (KTNF), immersion-cooling fluid (S-Oil) and equipment (GST) — and extend their cooperation to a range of future data center projects.
KTNF has commercialized high-performance AI and data center servers and supplies products to public institutions, defense agencies, financial firms and large corporate data centers. GST, whose core businesses include scrubbers and chillers for semiconductor manufacturing as well as immersion-cooling equipment, has collaborated with S-Oil on various immersion-cooling pilot projects.
"Through this pilot program, which targets deployment in actual commercial data centers, we plan to further strengthen our competitiveness in immersion-cooling technology and contribute to building an AI data center ecosystem and expanding the immersion-cooling market in cooperation with domestic companies," an S-Oil official said.
"Drawing on our in-house design and manufacturing capabilities, we will continue developing high-performance domestic servers optimized for immersion-cooling environments, and work with S-Oil and GST to expand the domestic immersion-cooling data center market and enhance the competitiveness of Korea's AI infrastructure," a KTNF official said.
