Students from Keimyung University's Department of Fashion Marketing gained hands-on experience in overseas market entry by running a K-fashion pop-up store in Sydney, Australia, alongside Daegu-based fashion and lifestyle brands, the university announced Wednesday.

The five-day event ran from Aug. 22 to 26 at the Kanzi store inside Lidcombe Shopping Centre in Sydney. It was designed to introduce Daegu fashion and lifestyle brands to local consumers and gauge market response.

Five brands participated in the pop-up, dubbed "K-Style Sydney 26": Maison de Ines, Yaryu, CheChe Studio, Roamli and Sunoeun.

Each brand showcased clothing, accessories and lifestyle products, and held interactive events and promotions for local visitors.

Twenty students and two professors from the department took part in every stage of the store's operation — handling store layout, product display, brand promotion, customer service, sales and consumer response surveys — gaining firsthand experience in fashion marketing and retail in an overseas market.

Kim Moon-young, a professor in the department who runs D-FIACA, said the pop-up was "a field education program where students apply theories learned in the classroom to an overseas market." He added that the event was meaningful "in that we created direct contact points with overseas consumers alongside local companies and confirmed the brands' market competitiveness."
