8.8 billion won earmarked for cross-ministry technology trading platform; AI search and matching to be introduced
93 billion won in dedicated commercialization guarantees; 730 billion won in guarantee supply planned for next year
Korea Technology Finance Corporation, known as Kibo, plans to expand its technology trading platform links and financial support for technology commercialization next year.
Kibo said Wednesday that the government's 2027 budget proposal includes a total of 102.3 billion won earmarked for technology trading and commercialization — comprising 8.8 billion won ($6.42 million) for the "cross-ministry technology trading platform linkage and upgrade" project and 93 billion won for dedicated technology commercialization guarantees.
The centerpiece of the initiative is connecting the technology trading platforms currently scattered across government ministries through Kibo's Smart Tech Bridge system. Companies seeking specific technologies now must check each ministry's platform separately; under the new arrangement, technology information spread across multiple platforms will be searchable from a single location.
AI will also be incorporated into the search function. Where users previously relied on keyword searches, the upgraded system will use AI to identify a company's technology needs and then suggest suitable candidate technologies along with related ones.
Financial support for technology commercialization companies will also be expanded. The 2027 budget proposal includes 93 billion won for dedicated technology commercialization guarantees, aimed at preventing promising national R&D outcomes from stalling at the commercialization stage due to funding shortfalls or barriers to market entry.
"We will advance the linkage and upgrade of the cross-ministry technology trading platform centered on Smart Tech Bridge, and support the successful commercialization of national R&D achievements," Kibo Chairman Kwon Hyung-taek said.
