Kosdaq-listed LDT announced Wednesday that it received the Ministry of Interior and Safety minister's award at the 2026 Korea Safety Technology Awards, hosted by the Ministry of Interior and Safety.

The Korea Safety Technology Awards is a government-organized event that identifies and recognizes outstanding technologies and products contributing to public safety and the advancement of the disaster safety industry.

LDT's winning technology is an AIoT (artificial intelligence of things) early fire detection device and smart alarm control system. The selection followed on-site, public and expert review rounds.

Conventional fire management systems focus on response after an incident occurs. LDT's product goes beyond simply detecting a fire signal — it transmits the location and status of the fire, enabling on-site verification and response.

A single device simultaneously detects four types of fire signals: flame, smoke, fixed-temperature and rate-of-rise. It captures specific ultraviolet signals emitted by flames, detecting small fires within three seconds. After a flame is detected, the system cross-checks smoke and temperature changes, allowing it to assess a fire situation without relying on any single signal.

The award-winning technology detects anomalies in real time through IoT sensors and transmits the data to a platform via wireless communication and a gateway. The information can be accessed on both PC and mobile devices.

Over more than a decade, LDT has deployed more than 68,000 fire detectors at major industrial facilities and public institutions nationwide, building extensive field experience.

"We will expand the application of technology developed in fire detection to industrial safety as a whole, and grow into an AIoT-based industrial safety platform company that connects and utilizes diverse safety data from the field to identify risk signs more quickly," said Kim Jeong-jun, chief executive of LDT.

LDT's share price closed Wednesday down 1.75 percent from the previous session at 2,250 won. The company's market capitalization stands at 18.8 billion won ($13.7 million). LDT, which has grown as a semiconductor technology company, has recently been expanding into IoT sensor networks and industrial safety platforms.
