Vietnamese Korean-language teachers complete AI-powered lesson design training with Picl

- Hanoi Korean Education Center hosts official training course on AI-based Korean language education

- All participating teachers finish first lesson content; free access to platform granted through May 2027

Korean-language teachers in Vietnam have completed a lesson design training program using Picl, an AI engine built for education, the platform's developer Picl Lab announced Wednesday.

The training was organized by the Hanoi Korean Education Center, an institution under the Ministry of Education, and held at the Korean International School Hanoi (KISH) from Aug. 24 to Aug. 28.

About 30 local teachers who teach Korean at schools that have adopted the language as a regular subject for the 2026-2027 academic year took part. Picl was used as a hands-on tool during the two-day "AI-Based Korean Language Education" course held Thursday and Friday.

The Hanoi Korean Education Center structured the training around three pillars: strengthening Korean teaching and learning competencies at Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST), classroom practice cases from native-speaking teachers at KISH, and AI-based Korean language education applications.

The number of schools in Vietnam adopting Korean as a regular subject has been growing, but wide gaps in teacher competency remain. AI-based lesson design was incorporated into the official curriculum as one way to narrow those gaps.

Participating teachers said they expect the time needed to prepare lesson materials and assessment questions to drop significantly.

Tran Thi Thu, a teacher at Nam Tu Liem Middle School, said preparing learning materials had been time-consuming and demanding, but that Picl allowed her to cut that time while still creating a variety of activities for students.

Tran Thanh Hang, a teacher at Giang Vo 2 Middle School, said the platform was easy to use because it supports Vietnamese, and that it allows flexible creation of learning and game activities. "Tasks suited to Korean language classes are generated in a logical way," she added.

Picl Lab plans to provide all teachers who completed the training with free access to Picl through May 2027, when the academic year ends.

The company said Picl is a generative engine that analyzes learners' proficiency levels and areas of weakness to continuously supply customized teaching and learning content.

This training marks the first time Picl has been applied to public school teachers abroad, and the company said it plans to discuss pilot programs at the school level going forward.

Jung Chan-pil, chief executive of Picl Lab, said he was impressed by the seriousness and enthusiasm Vietnamese teachers showed toward AI-driven classroom innovation. "Many said they wanted to apply it in their classes right away, and we will do our best to provide ongoing support so that AI-based Korean language education can take root on the ground," he said.
