Mapo-gu District Mayor Yoo Dong-kyun attended the 2026 Mapo-gu Social Welfare Convention on Tuesday afternoon at Majung Hall on the sixth floor of Mapo Central Library, presenting commendations to 27 individuals recognized for their contributions to social welfare and expressing gratitude to frontline workers.
Organized by the Mapo-gu Community Social Security Council to mark the 27th Social Welfare Day, the event aimed to raise public awareness of social welfare and honor the dedication of frontline workers.
The ceremony featured a congratulatory performance and a commemorative event in which attendees watered a symbolic "Mapo Welfare Tree" to celebrate the continued growth of welfare services in the district.
In the second half of the program, Yoon Hong-kyun, a psychiatrist and author of "Self-Esteem Lessons," held a talk concert on the theme of self-care for preventing burnout among social welfare workers.
"The true starting point of welfare lies in attention to our neighbors and warm communication," District Mayor Yoo said. "We will listen to even the smallest voices from the field and pursue a welfare administration built on public-private cooperation, so that social welfare workers can take pride in their work and fully apply their expertise."
