Range Rover has unveiled its first pure electric model.

JLR Korea announced Wednesday that it has revealed the Range Rover Electric, an electrified version of the original luxury SUV.

Built at JLR's Solihull plant in Britain — where Range Rovers have been produced since 1970 — the model is the brand's first battery-electric vehicle. The company says it is quieter and more refined than any previous Range Rover, while delivering sharper responsiveness and stronger torque.

The Range Rover Electric integrates its electric drive system into a flexible architecture designed for electrification from the outset. Two 260kW permanent-magnet motors produce a combined output of 550 horsepower and 851 newton-meters of torque. The vehicle accelerates from zero to 100 kilometers per hour in 4.5 seconds and offers a WLTP-rated range of 600 kilometers on a single charge.

The Range Rover Electric features new technology designed to deliver precise control in any conditions. Its Intelligent Driveline Dynamics system modulates rear-axle torque from 100 percent to zero to prevent traction loss.

The Integrated Traction Management system controls motor speed within 50 milliseconds — up to 100 times faster than a comparable combustion-engine vehicle — to manage wheel slip. Working in tandem with a new single-pedal mode, the system enables smooth, effortless starts on gradients of up to 33 degrees, equivalent to a black-diamond ski slope, and can climb inclines of up to 45 degrees while moving.

In addition, the Range Rover Electric is fitted with a 118.5kWh (usable capacity) lithium-ion double-stack battery pack made up of 344 prismatic cells, giving it high energy density. The advanced 800V architecture supports rapid charging and flexible split charging.

Using a 350kW DC fast charger at maximum speed, the battery can charge from 10 to 80 percent in about 22 minutes. Just 10 minutes of charging adds 220 kilometers of WLTP-rated range.

The Range Rover Electric underwent extensive virtual and real-world testing and development across the globe — covering more than 1.5 million kilometers in conditions ranging from minus 40 degrees Celsius in Arjeplog, Sweden, to the desert heat of Dubai, and at JLR's Eastnor Castle test facility in Britain. The program also included more than 250,000 hours of virtual testing.

Several new technologies enhance the electric vehicle's performance and efficiency. An advanced Thermasyst thermal management system optimizes charging speed, battery life and performance in extreme temperatures, extending range by up to about 40 kilometers and cutting heating energy consumption by up to 40 percent. More than 300 patents have been filed in connection with the Range Rover Electric — the highest number for any single vehicle in the brand's history.

For serviceability and maintenance, every Range Rover Electric is equipped with a battery digital twin that provides more than 900 diagnostic data points. Linked to JLR's over-the-air software update capability, the system allows the vehicle to proactively manage its own condition. The advanced electrified powertrain carries an eight-year or 160,000-kilometer warranty.

The Range Rover Electric will be offered in two specifications: Standard Wheelbase Autobiography and Long Wheelbase SV. Orders open this month, with an official launch planned for mid-2027.
