Choral performances, classical music and a book talk mark Organ Donation Day, with stories from donor families and transplant recipients bringing the meaning of life-sharing to life
Geumcheon-gu will co-host the "2026 Life-Sharing Concert" with the Korea Organ and Tissue Donation Agency on Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the grand auditorium on the 12th floor of the Geumcheon-gu District Office, marking Organ Donation Day.
The event aims to spread accurate information about organ donation and foster a culture of life-sharing. The program features choral and classical performances and a life-sharing book talk, designed to let residents engage naturally with the meaning of organ donation through music and storytelling.
The "Voice of Life" choir will open with a choral performance centered on life-sharing. The ensemble is made up of donor family members, transplant recipients and registered donation pledgers, who will convey the spirit of life-sharing through song.
A string quartet performance will follow, giving residents a chance to relax and enjoy classical music.
The event will close with a life-sharing book talk drawing on a collection of donation and transplant case studies. Through the personal stories of donor families and transplant recipients, attendees will have the opportunity to reflect on the meaning and value of life-sharing.
The concert is open to all residents and workers in the area. Geumcheon-gu hopes the event will raise public awareness of organ donation and serve as a catalyst for spreading a culture of life-sharing in the community.
"Organ donation is a precious act in which one person's generosity gives another person a new lease on life," Geumcheon-gu District Mayor Choi Ki-chan said. "I hope this concert will be an occasion for people to think about organ donation and share in the value of giving life."
