Open to youth residents of Seongbuk-gu and students at local universities, the beauty academy certification course saw all 25 enrollees complete the program — and all 24 who sat the licensing exam earn their certification.
Seongbuk-gu held a closing ceremony Saturday for the "Seongbuk Youth Beauty Academy Aromatherapist Certification Course," a K-beauty talent development program run in partnership with Sungshin Women's University, at the university's International Education Center.
The aromatherapist certification course ran for eight weeks — seven sessions totaling 42 hours — from July 11 to Saturday, targeting young residents in the district.
The curriculum combined theory and hands-on practice to build professional competency toward the aromatherapist certification.
All 25 youth participants completed the course, and all 24 who sat the licensing exam earned their aromatherapist certification. The district and the university plan to continue offering mentoring and networking opportunities in the beauty sector, actively supporting participants in building the practical skills needed to find employment or start their own businesses.
Participant Park Hyeon-a said the experience gave her a major confidence boost. "The systematic learning led to a tangible result — earning the certification — and that gave me great confidence," she said.
Seongbuk-gu District Mayor Lee Seung-ro said he was pleased that the partnership with Sungshin Women's University produced such a meaningful outcome — every participant completing the course and earning certification. "We will continue to work closely with local universities to roll out tailored education programs that help young people build the expertise they need to find jobs or start businesses and take on challenges across a wide range of fields," he said.
