Broadcaster Kim Shin-young is stepping away from her long-running MBC FM4U radio program "Jeongoui Huimangok Kim Shin-young-imnida," a midday music request show she has hosted for 14 years.

On Monday's broadcast, Kim announced she would be leaving the DJ chair for three months.

"I started 'Jeongoui Huimangok' when I was 30, and I've been hosting it for 14 years," she said. "I've been thinking about how I want to design my days and my life going forward."

She added that she wanted to build up operations at her company, Gojingamrae, which she founded to pursue her own creative goals, while also ensuring she could return to radio without burning out.

"If I have a lot of broadcast schedules, I can still do the radio show — but this is company work," she explained. "My company is an IP company. I need to meet with the people in the office in various ways. I thought I'd like to spend about three months getting the company in order."

Kim asked listeners for their understanding, saying, "I'll check in with myself, take care of the company, take some time, and come back well. My dream is to come back with even better news to share."

Starting Tuesday, comedian Lee Guk-ju has taken over as special DJ, hosting the show in Kim's absence.
