The Ulsan Metropolitan City Council launched an integrity campaign Tuesday, holding a declaration ceremony at the council speaker's office to mark the inauguration of the ninth council and kicking off a relay-style integrity drive involving all lawmakers.

Council Speaker Lee Young-hae led off as the first participant, holding pickets reading "Integrity Relay START!" and "Ulsan Metropolitan City Council — serving citizens through integrity," and pledged to uphold ethical conduct in office.

The relay will proceed sequentially through each standing committee during the regular session, beginning with the Administrative Affairs Committee and passing the baton to the Culture, Welfare and Environment Committee, the Industry and Construction Committee, and the Education Committee.

The council will use its official mascot "Barmi" to promote a more approachable image and will share photos of each lawmaker's integrity pledge in real time through its official social media channels, including its blog and Instagram. It also plans to distribute summary guides on the Anti-Graft Act and the Conflict of Interest Prevention Act to all lawmakers to help prevent potential conflicts of interest during their legislative activities.
