Product passes tests for prohibited and restricted substances, biodegradability

Laundry detergent brand Persil said Tuesday its capsule-type product, Persil Disc Pro (Pouch), received top performance marks in a quality and safety comparative evaluation conducted by the Korea Consumer Agency.

The Korea Consumer Agency released results Aug. 19 from tests on eight capsule-type laundry detergents available on the market, assessing washing performance, price, safety and environmental impact.

Persil Disc Pro received an "excellent" rating in washing performance against blood and ink stains. It also earned an "excellent" rating in dissolution performance, which measures how quickly a capsule dissolves in water. Dissolution is considered a key quality factor, as capsules that fail to dissolve during cold-water washing can stick to clothing or damage laundry. Persil was the only product among the eight to receive excellent ratings in both categories.

On safety, the product was found compliant with standards for prohibited substances — including benzene and arsenic — as well as restricted-substance content limits. It also met requirements for container durability and child-resistant packaging. The product passed biodegradability tests, which measure how readily a substance breaks down naturally.

"This Korea Consumer Agency evaluation has objectively confirmed our washing performance against blood and ink stains and our stable dissolution capability," a Persil official said. "We will continue to offer products that consumers can trust."
