The district's second supplementary budget for 2026 totals 1.17 trillion won, up 88.9 billion won from the existing budget, with a focus on safety infrastructure, care and welfare, and education and leisure.
Yangcheon-gu has submitted to the district council its "2026 Second Supplementary Budget and Fund Management Plan Amendment," the first supplementary budget since the launch of the ninth elected term. The proposal totals 1.17 trillion won ($64.7 million), an increase of 88.9 billion won over the existing budget.
Yangcheon-gu District Mayor Lee Ki-jae delivered a policy address at the first regular session of the 324th Yangcheon District Council on Tuesday. "This supplementary budget is focused on supporting stable district administration and resolving pressing challenges with urgency," he said. "Despite difficult fiscal conditions, we have concentrated resources on projects that enhance the safety and well-being of residents."
The total supplementary budget stands at 1.17 trillion won. The general account rises by 69.9 billion won to 1.13 trillion won, while the special account increases by 19 billion won to 38.2 billion won.
The district will prioritize building safer living infrastructure by taking preemptive steps against extreme weather events such as heavy rain and snowstorms. Some 1.21 billion won will go toward repairing and dredging sewer facilities to maintain drainage capacity, while 400 million won has been set aside for snow-removal measures. An additional 1.51 billion won will fund repairs to aging roads, including those around Gomdallae-ro 6-gil, and 390 million won will support efforts to ease parking shortages in apartment complexes. The relocation of the new Sinjeong 2-dong community center, scheduled for completion by year's end, will also proceed on track.
Care and welfare services will be strengthened as well. The district will commission a feasibility study and master plan for expanding the Yangcheon Senior Care Center, improving elderly care within the community. To support mobility for people with disabilities, rapid chargers for electric mobility aids will be installed at 13 locations, including dong community centers. The district also plans to expand influenza vaccination support for local volunteers, including neighborhood leaders and residents' council members.
Investment in education and leisure will continue. Some 330 million won has been allocated to begin planning next year's Y Education Expo, a fair that has established itself as a nationally recognized education brand. Another 190 million won has been earmarked for a waterfront cafe and water leisure facility along the Anyangcheon, both set for completion later this year.
The district will also address outstanding issues related to the Sinjeong New Town redevelopment project, with plans to ease the associated fiscal burden in stages and improve the predictability of financial operations.
"This supplementary budget was drawn up around projects that are truly necessary for the safety and well-being of residents," Lee said. "We will move with urgency to make efficient use of limited resources so that residents can feel the difference in their daily lives."
