Group Leader Ahn Gyeong-in takes gold; Group Leader Jeong In-hae wins silver
Gwangju Global Motors (GGM) won awards in every category at the National Quality Innovation Competition in its debut appearance, demonstrating the company's safety standards and quality-improvement capabilities on the production floor.
GGM announced Tuesday that four of its teams competed in the 2026 National Quality Innovation Competition — the 52nd National Quality Circle Competition — held Sept. 24–28 at the Korea Sound Culture Center in Jeonju, North Jeolla Province, and all four returned with prizes: one gold, one silver and two bronze, each equivalent to a presidential citation.
The National Institute of Technology and Standards under the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and North Jeolla Province co-host the competition, with the Korean Standards Association serving as organizer. It recognizes outstanding quality circles whose voluntary improvement activities on the shop floor have contributed to higher quality and greater customer satisfaction.
A total of 315 quality circles and individual entrants from regional qualifying rounds across all 17 cities and provinces competed, presenting their quality-improvement results and on-site innovation cases.
GGM entered two quality circles and two individual competitors, all of whom took home awards.
Park Yong-jun, head of GGM's production quality division, said quality is "the foundation that underpins safety and the starting point for innovation practiced on the shop floor," adding that the results were "the fruit of employees who worked tirelessly to identify problems and drive improvements where it matters most."
