Female YouTuber with 440K subscribers groped, kissed by mob in Tanzania: 'Never travel Africa alone as a woman'

A video showing a female YouTuber being surrounded and sexually harassed by local men during a trip to Africa has belatedly gone viral.

Footage from a video posted in March by travel YouTuber Moreunenji — real name An Eun-ji, who has 440,000 subscribers — has been circulating across multiple online communities in recent weeks. The video, titled "Why Women Should Never Travel Africa Alone," had surpassed 1 million views as of Monday.

In the video, An is traveling solo in Tanzania when she pays a local man to ride on the back of his motorcycle to her destination.

While en route, a group of men blocks the road and surrounds the pair, demanding money.

The men grope An, press their bodies against hers and kiss her on the cheek without hesitation.

An curls away and screams, telling the men not to touch her, but they show no sign of stopping. Amid the chaos, one man attempts to steal her phone from her pocket.

The motorcycle eventually pulls away and appears to shake off the crowd, but at least one man gives chase on his own motorcycle.

"An African safari was on my bucket list — that was the one thing I came here for," An said in the video. "Why is this place so hard?" She called it "genuinely the worst travel destination" she had ever visited.

Online commenters responded with a mix of concern and criticism. "Please don't travel dangerous countries alone," one wrote. Others said, "Were you planning to ask the government to rescue you if you got kidnapped?" and "You must have known the risks — this was too reckless." Some drew comparisons to content creators who perform dangerous stunts for views, asking, "How is this any different from someone doing risky things on a cliff for clicks?"
