Gut metabolic environment and optimal probiotic intake considered
Proven plant-based formula supports beneficial bacteria habitat
Amway Korea announced Tuesday the launch of two new products under its "Complete Gut Solution" line, developed to reflect the lifestyle and microbiome characteristics of Korean consumers.
The lineup consists of Nutrilite Begin, designed to support a healthy gut environment, and Nutrilite Probiotics, which contains two proprietary strains derived from Korean microbiome data. Using research platforms including a gastrointestinal model (PMAS) and human intestinal organoids, the company confirmed that taking the two products together increased production of butyrate — a key marker of gut health — compared with taking either product alone. Two related research papers have been published in international academic journals and presented at the 2026 International Symposium of the Korean Society of Food Science and Technology.
Nutrilite Begin is built around a plant-based formula of short-chain fructooligosaccharides, which are easy to digest and serve as a food source for beneficial bacteria, helping maintain a balanced gut microbiome. Clinical trials showed the product significantly increased acetate and lactate, intermediate metabolites involved in butyrate production. The lemon-kiwi flavored stick-type product is priced at 67,000 won ($49) for a pack of 30 sachets.
Nutrilite Probiotics was developed in partnership with microbiome specialist HEM Pharma, drawing on a database of more than 110,000 Korean microbiome samples. From a library of 3,428 strains, the company secured worldwide exclusive licenses for two key strains linked to butyrate production: Lacticaseibacillus paracasei Nutrilite 272 and Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus Nutrilite 648. The product contains five probiotic strains, including the two proprietary ones, delivering 10 billion CFU per serving — the maximum daily intake recommended by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety for probiotics. An eight-week clinical trial found a statistically significant increase in the proportion of normal stool form and in butyrate levels compared with the placebo group. The stick-type product is priced at 49,000 won for a pack of 30 sachets.
"The 'Complete Gut Solution' is the fruit of our relentless effort and investment to provide scientifically validated solutions," said Shin Eun-ja, chief executive of Amway Korea. "Through a two-track strategy that offers personalized solutions based on individual health conditions, we aim to contribute to expanding the gut health management ecosystem."
