Open-innovation strategy expansion

Yuhan has joined forces with the Daegu-North Gyeongsang Advanced Medical Industry Promotion Foundation, known as K-MEDIhub, to bolster its drug research and development competitiveness.

Yuhan announced Tuesday that it had signed an MOU with K-MEDIhub to strengthen its innovative drug pipeline.

The agreement aims to link Yuhan's drug development capabilities with K-MEDIhub's research infrastructure and technology support systems to expand opportunities for joint research on promising drug candidates.

Under the MOU, the two organizations will collaborate in four areas: identifying and carrying out joint drug research projects, strengthening R&D capabilities through the exchange of top research personnel, providing mutual technology support through shared research facilities and advanced equipment, and building a medical industry network.

Yuhan plans to leverage K-MEDIhub's specialized researchers and infrastructure to advance its open-innovation strategy. The scope of cooperation will expand into joint research and technology collaboration as specific needs arise.

The agreement allows Yuhan to broaden its collaborative base in drug candidate discovery and R&D by combining its in-house capabilities with external expertise and research infrastructure. The two organizations plan to discuss detailed cooperation tasks and, where necessary, draw up specific project plans to pursue joint research.

"Collaboration that organically links diverse research capabilities and infrastructure is essential for developing innovative drugs," said Kim Yeol-hong, Yuhan's R&D president. "We hope that by working with K-MEDIhub, we can effectively combine the strengths of both organizations and translate that into the discovery of promising drug development projects and tangible R&D results."

Park Gu-seon, chairman of K-MEDIhub, said the foundation would "actively utilize our specialized personnel and research infrastructure to support joint research and contribute to strengthening the competitiveness of South Korea's drug development industry."
