LS Cable signs MOU with AFF consortium for joint project cooperation

LS Cable said Tuesday it has signed an MOU with the AI Factory Frontier, or AFF, consortium — a five-company alliance spanning GPU, power equipment, cooling, architecture and project development — to cooperate on joint AI data center projects.

AFF links each member's AI data center solutions to offer integrated packages to project operators. Its members include Naewoe General Architects, Ezwell AI, Enfield P&D, Woojin Electric and Iljin E&S.

LS Cable plans to work with AFF from the earliest stages of each project, reviewing customers' power requirements and site conditions to identify business opportunities. The company will also propose end-to-end power infrastructure solutions covering everything from external grid connections to internal power distribution and communications networks — applying superconductor systems on the external side and bus ducts and fiber-optic cables internally.

The superconductor system that LS Cable was the first company in the world to commercialize is a key differentiating technology for AI data center power infrastructure. Operating at a medium voltage of 23 kilovolts, it can transmit power equivalent to a 154-kilovolt high-voltage system, allowing existing substations to be used without replacement.

AFF members each contribute specialized expertise to AI data center construction. Naewoe General Architects handles architectural design, Ezwell AI covers GPU and AI infrastructure platforms, and Woojin Electric manages power equipment installation. Enfield P&D takes on project development, while Iljin E&S handles cooling and renewable energy systems.

"The rapid growth of AI data centers has made securing large-scale power a critical challenge," an LS Cable official said. "We will use our superconductor technology to set a new standard for AI data center power infrastructure."

Meanwhile, LS Cable and its subsidiary Gaon Cable have been steadily winning AI data center-related contracts. Gaon Cable announced last month that its US subsidiary LSCUS would supply bus ducts worth 200 billion won ($145 million) to an AI cloud data center project in the United States.
