Zigzag purchases earn 15% back; select merchants offer 10% rewards
Month-long launch promotion boosts earn rate to 20%, adds express-delivery coupons
Zigzag, the style commerce platform operated by Kakao Style, announced Tuesday the launch of the Zigzag Shinhan Card, developed jointly with Shinhan Card.
The card marks Zigzag's first foray into private-label credit cards, known in Korea as PLCC. Purchases made on Zigzag with the card earn 15 percent of the transaction amount back as Zigzag Points. Monthly earning caps scale with the previous month's spending: cardholders who spent 300,000 won ($218) to under 600,000 won can accumulate up to 12,000 points per month, while those spending 600,000 won or more can earn up to 20,000 points.
The card also rewards everyday spending. Using it at cafes, department stores, supermarkets, duty-free shops and taxis earns 10 percent of each transaction back as Zigzag Points. Monthly caps for these categories are 3,000 points for previous-month spending of 300,000 won to under 600,000 won, and 6,000 points for spending of 600,000 won or more.
A September launch promotion adds an extra 5 percentage points to the Zigzag earn rate, bringing it to a maximum of 20 percent. Monthly earning caps also rise during the promotion — to 20,000 points for previous-month spending of 300,000 won or more, and 30,000 points for 600,000 won or more. First-time purchases receive an immediate 30,000-won discount.
New cardholders also receive a welcome coupon covering 100 percent of a purchase up to 20,000 won, along with two 990-won stackable discount coupons valid on express-delivery products. The annual fee is 20,000 won.
