Geumcheon Ddaenggyeoyo vouchers go on sale Tuesday at 10 a.m. with a 15% discount; Geumcheon G-Valley Love vouchers launch Sept. 15 at 9 a.m. with a 5% discount plus 5% cashback
Geumcheon-gu will issue a total of 4.6 billion won ($3.34 million) in local gift vouchers ahead of the Chuseok holiday to ease household costs for residents and boost the local economy.
The Geumcheon Ddaenggyeoyo vouchers go on sale Tuesday at 10 a.m., with 600 million won worth available at a 15% discount. Residents can purchase up to 200,000 won per person per month through the Seoul Pay+ app and use the vouchers on the public online food delivery platform Ddaenggyeoyo.
The initiative aims to lower residents' delivery app costs while boosting sales for local small businesses.
The Geumcheon G-Valley Love vouchers will go on sale Sept. 15 at 9 a.m., with 4 billion won worth available. Buyers receive a 5% discount at purchase and a 5% cashback on spending, for a combined benefit of up to 10%. The cashback runs until the allocated budget is exhausted, and the vouchers are accepted at Seoul Pay+ affiliated merchants within the district.
Through these vouchers, the district plans to encourage smart spending among residents ahead of the holiday and stimulate local consumption.
Earlier this year, Geumcheon-gu issued 15 billion won in G-Valley Love vouchers and 400 million won in Ddaenggyeoyo vouchers for the Lunar New Year holiday to strong public response.
The district plans to provide timely support again this Chuseok so residents can ease the financial burden of holiday spending on groceries and dining out.
"On the occasion of Chuseok, one of our nation's greatest holidays, we hope to ease household burdens through local voucher issuance, stimulate consumption within the district, and breathe new life into a sluggish local economy," Geumcheon-gu District Mayor Choi Ki-chan said. "We will continue to roll out a range of support policies that provide real, tangible benefits to small business owners, local commercial areas, and residents."
