Yeongju City in North Gyeongsang Province signed an MOU with Lotte Shopping's Guri store Monday to secure stable sales channels for local agricultural and specialty products in major urban markets.

Under the agreement, the two parties will jointly promote Yeongju's farm products to consumers in the Greater Seoul area and other large cities through special exhibitions and promotional events at the retail store, with the aim of building lasting distribution channels beyond one-off sales events.

A promotional sale featuring apples from Buseok Agricultural Cooperative is planned for early this month, with further efforts to expand consumer access to Yeongju products through large retail stores.

"We will work to secure a stable distribution network that goes beyond simple promotional events, so that sales can continue on an ongoing basis and translate into real income growth for farming households and local businesses," Yeongju Mayor Hwang Byeong-jik said.
