A 207.18-square-meter customer support center opens, offering visitor amenities, merchant education facilities and a cultural space
Guro-gu has opened a customer support center at Gocheok Neighborhood Market, holding an inauguration ceremony Monday.
The ceremony took place at 3 p.m. Monday in the multipurpose room on the second floor of the center, with about 50 people in attendance — including Guro-gu District Mayor Jang In-hong, National Assembly members, Seoul city and district council lawmakers, and local residents.
The event opened with a celebratory performance, followed by an opening address, a progress report, a certificate of appreciation presentation, remarks from officials and a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Attendees celebrated the opening and shared their commitment to revitalizing the traditional market.
The customer support center was built as part of a traditional market facility modernization project. Located at 127-12 Gaebong-dong, the two-story building covers 207.18 square meters.
The first floor houses the merchants' association office, restrooms and a rest area, while the second floor provides a merchant education room and a cultural space to support training and cultural activities. A 20-space surface parking lot completed in 2024 also improved parking convenience for market visitors.
Guro-gu plans to continue improving the market environment and to sustain the revitalization of Gocheok Neighborhood Market through a range of programs and support initiatives for both merchants and local residents.
"I hope the newly opened customer support center will serve as a space that backs merchants in their work and makes visiting the market more convenient for residents," District Mayor Jang said. "We will work together to help Gocheok Neighborhood Market become a vibrant traditional market cherished by merchants and residents alike."
