The nine-day enforcement drive ran from Aug. 18 to Aug. 28, with an illegal-parking awareness campaign conducted in partnership with the Northern District Office of Education and Dobong Police Station.
Dobong-gu in Seoul conducted a nine-day special crackdown on illegal parking and stopping in school zones from Aug. 18 to Aug. 28, aimed at ensuring safe commutes for children as the second semester of 2026 got underway.
The enforcement operation covered 64 school protection zones and focused particularly on the high-risk hours of the morning commute (8–9 a.m.) and afternoon dismissal (1–4 p.m.).
A zero-tolerance policy applied to all parking and stopping violations during the crackdown period. Vehicles carrying children or passengers with disabilities were permitted to stop briefly — up to five minutes — in designated child drop-off and pick-up zones marked with official signage.
During the same period, Dobong-gu also ran an awareness campaign against illegal parking in school zones at the main gates of Sinbanghak Elementary School, Changgyeong Elementary School and Ssangmun Elementary School, in cooperation with the Northern District Office of Education and Dobong Police Station.
"We have carried out a strict zero-tolerance crackdown to protect children, who are the future of our society," Dobong-gu District Mayor Kim Dong-wook said. "We ask for the active cooperation of all residents so that safe school commute routes and a pedestrian environment centered on vulnerable road users can be established."
After the special enforcement period, Dobong-gu plans to continue monitoring violations on an ongoing basis using mobile CCTV-equipped patrol vehicles and fixed surveillance cameras, so that children can travel to and from school more safely.
