Single rate of 2.96% per year with no preferential conditions required
Transfer fees fully waived; account opening available instantly online
Korea Securities Finance launched "Jeunggeum Maeilmoa," a mobile-only parking account, on Monday.
The company provides deposit products for retail investors' asset management under the Capital Markets Act. The launch comes in response to growing attention and demand for parking accounts in recent months.
The account offers a single annual interest rate of 2.96% (pre-tax, as of Thursday) with no preferential conditions, using a daily compound interest structure that allows flexible deposits and withdrawals. Interest accrues every day during the deposit period, and deposits are protected by the Korea Deposit Insurance Corp. under the Depositor Protection Act — up to 100 million won ($72,600) per person, including principal and accrued interest.
The company has also waived all transfer fees and introduced an instant online account opening service to improve convenience for users.
Korea Securities Finance plans to run "Walk Plus," a participation-based rewards program, for customers who open a Jeunggeum Maeilmoa account and maintain a balance of at least 50,000 won. The program runs from Monday through Feb. 28 next year.
Customers who walk 8,000 steps in a day and tap the "receive" button will earn 100 points daily, which can be converted into cash.
"The Jeunggeum Maeilmoa account is a mobile-only deposit product designed to help customers manage their spare funds easily and conveniently," a company official said. "We will continue to expand a range of financial services that enhance the convenience of our customers' financial lives."
Korea Securities Finance is the country's only dedicated securities finance company, established in 1955 to support the securities industry. It provides loans to financial investment firms using securities as collateral and manages investor deposit funds, among other services.
