Mapo-gu District Mayor Yoo Dong-gyun attended the opening ceremony of the Seoul-type kids cafe in Dohwa-dong on Monday afternoon at the first floor of Boksakol Small Library (53 Dohwa 4-gil), where he offered congratulations and toured the facility.
The Dohwa-dong branch of the Seoul-type kids cafe is a publicly run indoor play facility designed to give children a safe space to run and play regardless of the season or weather.
The facility is divided into several themed zones: "Imagination Planet," a digital experience area; "Heart Square," where children can enjoy facial-expression puzzles and sensory play; and "Joy Planet," equipped with a jungle gym, slides and a ball pit. A nursing room and storage space are also available for caregivers.
On the below-ground floor, a toy-lending shop that reopened in July after a renovation sits alongside the kids cafe, allowing visitors to use the play space and borrow toys and books in one stop.
The facility is open to infants and toddlers aged 12 months to 6 years and their guardians, operating Tuesday through Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Reservations can be made through the Seoul Metropolitan Government's Woori Dongne Kium Portal.
"When you are raising a child, you cannot imagine how reassuring it is to have a place nearby where you can simply be with your child without worry," Yoo said. "I hope the Dohwa-dong kids cafe becomes a space that children and parents can visit with ease."
He added that building a city where children thrive does not start with grand gestures, but with consistently providing what children and parents truly need. "I will listen more closely to the voices of our residents and work to build a solid childcare environment that adds to the joy of raising children while easing the burden," he said.
