Funding to come from joint infrastructure fund with Korea Development Bank
The Korea Credit Guarantee Fund announced Monday it will provide 1.5 trillion won ($1.09 billion) in industrial infrastructure credit guarantees for the GTX-C line — the largest such backing in the agency's history.
The GTX-C line is a metropolitan rail network stretching 86.659 kilometers from Deokjeong Station in Yangju, Gyeonggi Province, to Suwon Station and Sangnoksu Station in Ansan.
Once the line opens, travel times between major hubs are expected to fall dramatically, easing traffic congestion across the Greater Seoul area and significantly improving commuting conditions for residents.
All 14 stations on the line — including major transfer points at Cheongnyangni, Wangsimni and Samsung stations — will be integrated into existing urban and regional rail networks.
Some 80 billion won of the funding will come from a dedicated infrastructure equity fund jointly established by the Korea Credit Guarantee Fund and Korea Development Bank. The policy fund was created to ease financing difficulties for private-sector infrastructure projects and to promote project activity and public benefit.
The Korea Credit Guarantee Fund recently received a top-excellence commendation from the Board of Audit and Inspection in its 2026 review of public institution internal audit activities.
"We hope this support will provide a stable foundation for building the metropolitan transport network and dramatically improve the convenience of public transit for citizens," an agency official said. "Going forward, as the country's only policy guarantee institution supporting private investment projects, we will continue to actively contribute to improving the quality of everyday life."
