Kumho Resort operates resort in China's Shandong Province

"Hoping for growth in golf industry and more active Korea-China exchange"

Kumho Petrochemical Group said Monday that its executive leadership met with Weihai Mayor Kong Fan-ping and city government officials in Weihai, Shandong Province, China on Thursday to discuss the current state of bilateral cooperation and ways to strengthen it further.

Attending from Kumho Petrochemical Group were Chairman Park Chan-koo, Group President Park Jun-kyung, CEO Baek Jong-hoon, Executive Vice President Ko Young-do of the management division, and Kumho Resort Executive Director Park Jeom-gyu, who also serves as co-chairman of Asiana Weihai Country Club. The Weihai city government was represented by Mayor Kong Fan-ping, Vice Mayor Zhang Sandong, Secretary-General Ju Yun, Commerce Bureau Director Wang Dezhi and Huancui District Mayor Liu Wei.

The meeting was arranged to reflect on five years of cooperation between the two sides and explore mutually beneficial arrangements going forward. Kumho Resort, which joined Kumho Petrochemical Group in 2021, operates Asiana Weihai Country Club (AWCC) in Shandong Province. Since the acquisition, the group has carried out a comprehensive renovation of AWCC facilities, strengthening its reputation as a premier golf destination among domestic and local golfers while contributing to tourism in Weihai.

"I hope that as China's golf industry grows, exchanges between Weihai and Korea will become even more active," Chairman Park said. "Kumho Petrochemical Group is focused on attracting tourists and revitalizing the local economy through continued investment, and I ask that the city government continue to provide its full support for our mutual cooperation."

Mayor Kong said Weihai hopes to broaden its cooperation with Kumho Petrochemical Group on the basis of future industries including advanced manufacturing, new materials and batteries. "We will continue to provide full administrative support to realize mutual benefit and shared growth," he said.
