Sangju city in North Gyeongsang Province announced Monday that its official online shopping mall for local farm and specialty products, Myeongsil Sangju Mall, will hold a chuseok discount event on all products from Tuesday through Sept. 23.

About 150 vendors and more than 1,200 products will take part in the event, with a 30 percent discount applied to items sold on the mall. Livestock, grain and dried persimmon products will receive a 20 percent discount.

Shoppers will be able to find a wide range of Sangju's signature farm and specialty products in one place — including dried persimmons and Hanwoo beef, which are particularly popular as chuseok gifts, as well as rice, fruit and processed foods.

Throughout September, the mall will also issue tiered discount coupons based on members' monthly purchase earnings, with separate coupons available for new members.

Sangju Mayor An Jae-min said he hopes the event will ease the financial burden on consumers during the holiday season while also boosting income for local farming households and expanding their sales channels. "We will continue to pursue a variety of online marketing initiatives through Myeongsil Sangju Mall that consumers can truly feel," he added.
