South Korean national team defender Seol Young-woo recorded his first assist just one minute after coming on as a substitute in his Bundesliga debut for Augsburg.

Seol came off the bench Monday (Korea time) during Augsburg's home match against Schalke 04 in the first round of the 2026-2027 Bundesliga season at WWK Arena in Augsburg, Germany, and registered an assist.

Augsburg took control of the match with a goal from Mikael Gregoritsch in the 18th minute and an additional strike from Anton Kade in the 79th minute.

With three minutes of stoppage time added, Augsburg manager Manuel Baum brought on Seol and Jeffrey Gouweleeuw in the 91st minute, replacing Marius Wolf and Calvin Brackelmann.

It was Seol's Augsburg debut, having left Red Star Belgrade on Thursday to join the top flight.

Seol wasted no time, converting his very first touch into an assist with his first pass on the pitch.

Receiving a pass from Rodrigo Ribeiro on the right side of the penalty area, Seol immediately returned the ball with his left foot to Ribeiro, who had made a run toward the right side of the goal area. Ribeiro then buried it with a powerful right-footed shot.

Seol notched his first assist of the season just one minute after coming on, and Augsburg completed a commanding 3-0 victory.

Local media reported that Augsburg paid around 4 million euros ($4.66 million) in transfer fees, including add-ons, to sign Seol. He was also handed the No. 7 jersey — an unusual number for a defender — a sign of the high expectations placed on him.

Having come up through Ulsan HD in the K League 1 before moving to Europe with a transfer to Red Star Belgrade in 2024, Seol made an immediate impression in the top flight, recording an assist in his very first appearance just two years after arriving on the European stage.
