New complex to be named 'Raemian Lasier Hangang'

First case of a Samsung Apartment being remodeled into Raemian brand

Samsung C&T's building and construction segment announced Monday that it has been selected as the contractor for the remodeling of the Han River Samsung Apartment complex in Mapo-gu, Seoul.

The Mapo Han River Samsung Apartment Remodeling Housing Association passed a resolution at its general meeting Saturday to appoint Samsung C&T as the contractor. The project marks the first time Samsung C&T will remodel a Samsung Apartment complex it originally built — completed in 1997 — and rebrand it under the Raemian label.

The remodeling project covers an apartment complex on Tojeong-ro 32-gil in Mapo-gu, originally completed in 1997, comprising three buildings with 456 units spanning two below-ground floors and 28 above-ground floors. The remodeled complex will consist of three buildings — including a newly constructed separate block — with 482 units across six below-ground floors and 29 above-ground floors, along with ancillary welfare facilities. The construction cost is approximately 281 billion won ($204 million).

The complex borders the Han River to its southwest, offering permanent river views and a pleasant residential environment. It is also within walking distance of Mapo Station on subway Line 5, with easy access to the Gangbyeonbuk-ro expressway, and sits close to Seoul's key business districts, including Yeouido, Gwanghwamun and Jongno.

Samsung C&T has proposed "Raemian Lasier Hangang" as the new complex name. The name combines the Romance-language definite article "La" with "See" and "Sight" — both evoking views — and the suffix "-er," expressing the concept of premium riverside living with sweeping, unobstructed views of the Han River.

The exterior design will feature an art facade inspired by the rippling waves of the Han River, maximizing the complex's sculptural elegance. Layered facade patterns with a sense of directionality will add visual weight to the buildings, giving the complex a distinctive presence.

Given the complex's permanent Han River views, the design incorporates a range of specialized features to make the most of its riverside setting. Sky lounges will be placed on two floors of the newly constructed building, and a rooftop landscape garden will be created to maximize river views. Wide living rooms and other floor plan features have also been tailored to enhance the panoramic vistas.

The complex will also offer premium community facilities — including a fitness center, golf lounge, healing community space and welcome lounge — totaling about 5,815 square meters, or roughly 13 square meters per household, to enhance the residential value for future residents.

"We will maximize the outstanding locational advantage of direct Han River views to deliver the finest residential space," said Kim Myeong-seok, executive vice president and head of Samsung C&T's Housing Product Marketing Division. "We will carry out the Mapo Han River Samsung Apartment remodeling project successfully and give association members the utmost pride in their homes."

Meanwhile, Samsung C&T is also proceeding with remodeling projects for Jamwon Riverside Apartment and Godeok Anam Apartment, among others.
