28 experience and promotional booths on offer — life portraits by adults with developmental disabilities, mood lamp crafting and more
Opening ceremony begins at 10:30 a.m., with commendations for social welfare contributors and a celebratory performance
Jongno-gu will host the "2026 Jongno Welfare Fair" on Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Marronnier Park (104 Daehak-ro), marking the 27th Social Welfare Day.
The event aims to honor those who have dedicated themselves to improving community welfare and to raise residents' awareness of the district's signature welfare projects.
Under the theme "Meet Welfare Inside Jongno," 29 organizations will participate, operating 28 promotional and experience booths and introducing locally tailored welfare policies.
The booths are divided into five areas — family and community welfare, children and youth, seniors and public health, persons with disabilities, and residential and employment services — so residents can more easily access and engage with available policies and services.
Participatory content is designed to bridge generations. A disability-awareness quiz challenges common misconceptions, while the "Jongno Good Neighbor" booth — a reporting channel for identifying welfare blind spots — gives visitors a chance to reflect on the struggles of those around them.
Additional offerings include mental health screenings, memory tests, a safety experience for the visually impaired, life portrait photography by adults with developmental disabilities, and a mood lamp crafting program themed around family, hope and happiness. The event is designed as a place where people of all ages can learn and enjoy themselves.
The commemorative program opens with a pre-ceremony K-pop taekwondo performance. The main ceremony, running from 10:30 to 11:20 a.m., proceeds in order: an opening declaration, commendations for social welfare contributors and organizations, commemorative and congratulatory remarks, a group photo and closing.
District Mayor Yoo Chan-jong said the district would "work tirelessly to build a warm community with no welfare blind spots and to realize Jongno as a welfare city that residents can truly feel."
