Seokchon Lake in Songpa-gu is set to become a special exhibition space where fashion and K-pop converge.

A public art exhibition marking NCT's 10th debut anniversary will be held on the east basin of Seokchon Lake from Sept. 3 to Sept. 27, as a special program of the 2027 S/S Seoul Fashion Week, which Songpa-gu is supporting.

Seoul Fashion Week is a fashion industry business platform organized by the Seoul Metropolitan Government each spring and fall, showcasing trends one season ahead and connecting domestic designer brands with global buyers. NCT is a multinational group under SM Entertainment that debuted in 2016 and marks its 10th anniversary this year.

The exhibition brings the two together by floating a large art balloon on the surface of Seokchon Lake's east basin. Decorated in the colors and designs symbolic of Seoul Fashion Week and NCT, the balloon stands 16 meters tall and 14.5 meters wide, and will be on view daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Starting at 7 p.m., lighting will illuminate the balloon against the backdrop of the lake.

From Sept. 3 through Sept. 6, Lotte World Tower nearby will host the Jamsil program of the 2027 S/S Seoul Fashion Week. Alongside fashion shows, the program will feature an exhibition of stage costumes and props commemorating NCT's 10th debut anniversary, as well as a charity bazaar.

With Lotte World Tower and Seokchon Lake within walking distance of each other, the exhibition is expected to draw domestic and international visitors attending Seoul Fashion Week to the lake area, boosting local tourism. The exhibition is hosted by Lotte Holdings and SM Entertainment.

Songpa-gu has also organized a prize event to encourage visitors to spend at local businesses. It will run every Saturday and Sunday from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., from Sept. 5 through Sept. 27, near the Songpa Tourism Information Center at Seokchon Lake.

Visitors who present a same-day receipt showing a purchase of at least 10,000 won ($7) at shops in Bangyi Matgol, Songnidan-gil or Hosudan-gil can enter a roulette game. Prizes worth a combined 30 million won are on offer, including Lotte Cinema movie tickets, Lotte World Adventure passes and coffee vouchers.

The Seokchon Lake area where the exhibition will be held is part of the Jamsil Tourism Special Zone, whose boundaries were expanded Thursday. The zone grew from 2.31 square kilometers to 2.75 square kilometers, extending beyond the existing Lotte World, Lotte World Tower, Seokchon Lake and Olympic Park to include Songnidan-gil, Bangyi Market and Bangyi Matgol. The newly added Songnidan-gil is a popular destination among young visitors for its many cafes and restaurants, while Bangyi Market is known for traditional market food and lifestyle culture, and Bangyi Matgol for its diverse dining options.

Songpa-gu District Mayor Seo Gang-seok said the district's efforts to develop Seokchon Lake into a cultural landmark with year-round attractions had paid off with the expansion of the Jamsil Tourism Special Zone. "Going forward, we will make Songpa a place loved by visitors from around the world by offering an even wider range of things to see and do," he said.
