Jungnang-gu will hold the 2026 Jungnang ESG Competition for one month through Sept. 23.
The competition aims to identify, certify and share examples of ESG — environmental, social and governance — practices and education carried out in the community in pursuit of sustainable development, with the goal of raising public awareness of sustainability.
This year, the contest has expanded its scope beyond its previous focus on environmental initiatives to include social categories such as support for vulnerable groups, community cooperation, and sharing and care. The district plans to uncover a wide range of cases that have contributed not only to environmental conservation but also to building a sustainable community where all residents can participate.
Eligibility is limited to public institutions, businesses and organizations based in Jungnang-gu; individuals may not apply. Participating organizations may enter in either the practice category or the education category.
Applications can be submitted through the Jungnang-gu district office website under "Resident Participation — Online Submissions — District Office — Jungnang ESG Competition," or by email. Those unable to apply online may also submit by mail or in person.
Submitted entries will be reviewed, and a total of 40 will be certified as outstanding organizations. Of those, 16 will be separately selected as award winners — four top prizes, four excellence prizes and eight encouragement prizes — and will receive certificates of commendation. All certified organizations will receive a certificate and a commemorative plaque, along with benefits including promotional support for priority purchasing by public institutions and featured coverage of their cases through district office media channels.
Results will be announced in November on the Jungnang-gu district office website. Awards, certificates and plaques will be presented at the 2026 Jungnang ESG Outcomes Sharing Forum, scheduled for December, where winning organizations will also present their cases and exchange ideas with one another.
"To build a sustainable community, it is important to practice social values — walking alongside the vulnerable and growing together with the local community — alongside environmental conservation," District Mayor Ryu Gyeong-gi said. "I hope this competition will uncover a diverse range of ESG practices that are driving positive change across environmental and social sectors in our community."
