Dalseong-gun in Daegu announced Thursday that its planned Local Road 67 construction project — connecting Nongong, Goryeong-gun and Habin — has passed a preliminary feasibility review, clearing the way for the route to be included in the sixth five-year national and local road construction plan covering 2026 to 2030.

The project will extend the National Support Local Road 67 network from Nongong-eup in Dalseong-gun through Dasan-myeon in Goryeong-gun to the Dasa and Habin areas.

The new two-lane road will cost 156.4 billion won ($113 million) in total and will include major structures such as a bridge crossing the Nakdong River and a tunnel.

Once completed, the project is expected to significantly cut travel distances and improve traffic access between the southern Dalseong areas of Nongong and Okpo and the northern areas of Habin and Dasa, which previously required detours via National Roads 5 and 30.

The road is also expected to strengthen the regional highway network linking the major industrial zones in the south — including the Daegu National Industrial Complex and the first and second Dalseong industrial complexes centered on Nongong — with the Dasa and Habin areas, reducing logistics costs and boosting industrial competitiveness.

Dalseong-gun has consistently advocated for the construction of Local Road 67 and maintained ongoing consultations with relevant agencies. The project's confirmation lays the groundwork for resolving a long-standing transportation challenge in the region.

Going forward, Dalseong-gun plans to work closely with Daegu, North Gyeongsang Province and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport to ensure that follow-up administrative procedures proceed smoothly.

"Local Road 67 between Nongong, Goryeong and Habin will become a key regional artery connecting the southern and northern parts of Dalseong," Dalseong-gun District Mayor Choi Jae-hun said. "We will actively cooperate with relevant agencies to ensure the project moves forward without a hitch, improving transportation convenience for residents and contributing to balanced regional development."
