National Assembly Speaker Cho Jeong-sik on Thursday appointed four people as his direct advisers, including Ko Sam-seok, an endowed professor at Dongguk University's Department of Computer Science and AI, and Jeong Seung, former president of the Korea Rural Community Corporation.
Ko, who previously served as a standing member of the Korea Communications Commission, will advise on culture, broadcasting and communications. Jeong, who served as the inaugural head of the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, will serve as innovation and growth adviser.
Also joining as advisers are Song Jong-wook, former president of Gwangju Bank, who will cover financial and economic affairs, and Moon Cheol-woo, a professor at Sungkyunkwan University's School of Business, who will focus on future economic growth.
"I hope each of you will offer diverse advice on the policy direction the National Assembly needs in your respective fields," Cho said. "I also ask that you actively share your views on important bills currently before the Assembly."
Ko said he would "contribute to building an inclusive ecosystem where K-content grows together with the world," drawing on his experience in policy and public administration as well as his global network.
