Award ceremony, commemorative performance and healing talk show set for Tuesday at district office auditorium
Experiential booths, campaigns and awareness surveys to continue across the district through Sept. 7
Guro-gu will hold a commemorative event for the 2026 Gender Equality Week at the district office auditorium on Tuesday.
The event is designed to share a vision and agenda for achieving gender equality while encouraging residents to take greater interest in and engage with gender equality in their daily lives.
The program opens at 1 p.m. with pre-ceremony activities, including experiential promotional booths and a screening of promotional videos. The first part of the main ceremony begins at 2 p.m. and will feature commendations for individuals who have contributed to advancing gender equality and community development, followed by a commemorative performance reaffirming the commitment to spreading a culture of gender equality.
The second part will feature a "Gender Equality Communication Healing Talk Show" hosted by comedian Cho Seung-hee, a KBS open-audition hire. Through participatory games and recreational activities, the session aims to make gender equality accessible and engaging while fostering dialogue with residents.
Experiential booths set up around the district office auditorium will feature the Guro-gu Family Center — marking its 20th anniversary this year — along with the Warm Heart Association and the Cheonwang-dong Youth Culture Center. The booths will offer gender equality awareness surveys, quizzes, games, campaigns, exhibitions and hands-on programs to help residents experience the value of gender equality firsthand.
A range of accompanying events will also take place across the district from Tuesday through Sept. 7 in observance of Gender Equality Week.
The St. Francis Welfare Center for People with Disabilities will run a gender equality campaign and promotional booth, while the Cheonwang-dong Youth Culture Center will host a campaign, an everyday-life gender equality quiz, a program on replacing discriminatory language, and experiential booth activities.
"We hope this event will raise awareness of gender equality and serve as an opportunity to spread a culture of mutual respect," a Guro-gu official said. "We will continue to pursue a wide range of policies to build a Guro-gu where all residents can thrive together."
