Hyundai Motor's management and union held an event Wednesday at the Ulsan Comprehensive Welfare Center for the Disabled to provide mobility aids to children with disabilities in the region.

The two sides delivered customized mobility equipment to 48 children with disabilities — including those with brain lesions, physical impairments and intellectual disabilities — providing stroller-type wheelchairs, in-vehicle postural support devices, power wheelchairs, postural support chairs, front-and-rear walking aids and rear-support walkers.

Recipients were selected through a three-month recruitment and screening process conducted by Unicef Korea from May, after Hyundai Motor management and union donated a combined 205 million won to the organization — comprising 105 million won ($75,800) in employee contributions and 100 million won from the joint corporate social responsibility fund.

In September, Hyundai Motor's management and union will provide family travel programs to Jeju Island for 12 households with disabled children, designed to be fully accessible.

Since 2003, Hyundai Motor's management and union have raised a cumulative 1.08 billion won through employee donations at the Ulsan factory over 23 years, supporting transportation-disadvantaged groups through initiatives including free vehicle inspections for people with disabilities, traffic safety education for children with disabilities and marathon events for people with disabilities.
