Tim Curry, the idiosyncratic actor known for his roles in "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" and "Home Alone 2," has died at his home. He was 80.

Curry died Tuesday (local time) at his home in Toluca Lake, Los Angeles, according to Variety and other outlets.

His death was confirmed by Marsha Hurwitz, his longtime manager and friend. No cause of death was disclosed.

Curry had battled a series of health problems following a serious stroke in 2012, and his death is believed to be connected to those ongoing conditions.

Curry made his debut in the musical "Hair" in 1968 and went on to earn Tony Award nominations for his work in "Amadeus" and "Spamalot."

He rose to international fame in 1975 playing the eccentric scientist Dr. Frank-N-Furter in the cult classic "The Rocky Horror Picture Show."

He was known for taking on bold, distinctive roles — among them the sinister clown Pennywise in the 1990s TV miniseries "It" and the butler Wadsworth in the mystery-comedy film "Clue."

Korean audiences will remember him as the Plaza Hotel concierge in "Home Alone 2."

Even after the 2012 stroke left him reliant on a wheelchair, Curry remained active as a voice actor in animation and video games. He returned to the screen in the 2024 horror film "Scream" and published his memoir, "Vagabond," last year.

In an interview with CBS's "Sunday Morning" last October, Curry said he had no fear of death. "Like all of us, I try to avoid it, but ultimately I think I'll welcome it," he said.
