Shoppers at Osaek Market in Osan, Gyeonggi Province, can now have their purchases delivered directly to any address in the country, sparing them the burden of carrying heavy bags home. CJ Logistics is expanding its delivery service from Daejeon to traditional markets in the greater Seoul area.

CJ Logistics announced Thursday that it has opened a delivery reception center at Osaek Market and launched a service to ship goods purchased there to any destination nationwide.

The move brings to the metropolitan area a traditional-market delivery model first introduced at Daejeon's Taepyeong Market in June, roughly two months after its debut. An opening ceremony was held at the Osaek Market customer service center on Wednesday, attended by Osan Mayor Jo Yong-ho, National Merchants Federation Chairman Lee Chung-hwan, Osaek Market Merchants Association Chairman Kim Ju-hyun, and CJ Logistics O-NE Division Head Yun Jae-seung.

Osaek Market is Osan's flagship traditional market, operating as both a permanent market and a five-day periodic market. The service lets visitors who shop at multiple stalls send their purchases directly home or to any address of their choice, without carrying the items themselves.

Delivery registration takes place at the stall. After a customer makes a purchase, the merchant scans a QR code and enters the recipient's address and other delivery details. A newly introduced voice-recognition feature also lets merchants dictate the address rather than type it manually.

Once registered, a delivery manager stationed full-time at the market collects parcels from each stall. A CJ Logistics courier then picks up the accumulated items at the reception center and ships them to destinations across the country.

The system also reduces the burden on merchants, who no longer need to visit a separate courier branch or handle their own shipping procedures. CJ Logistics said the ability to handle both sales and delivery registration in one place is expected to improve convenience for elderly merchants and those less comfortable with digital devices.

"Osaek Market draws both local residents and visitors, so we expect the delivery service to enhance the shopping experience for customers and support merchants in their sales activities," said Yun Jae-seung, head of CJ Logistics' O-NE division. "We will continue to expand a mutually beneficial logistics model that connects CJ Logistics' nationwide network with traditional markets and provides real, practical support to local commercial districts."

CJ Logistics plans to extend the traditional-market delivery model to additional locations based on results from Daejeon's Taepyeong Market and Osan's Osaek Market.
