24.5-inch QD-OLED showcased at Gamescom 2026 in Germany
Timely supply planned to align with global PC customers' new product launches
Samsung Display announced Thursday that it will begin full-scale mass production this year of a 24.5-inch full-HD quantum dot OLED (FHD QD-OLED) panel targeting the e-sports and first-person shooter (FPS) gaming markets.
The company, participating in Gamescom 2026 — the world's largest gaming expo, held in Cologne, Germany — plans to supply the 24.5-inch QD-OLED panels on schedule to meet demand from global PC customers.
Several PC manufacturers unveiled plans at Gamescom 2026 to release new products featuring Samsung Display's 24.5-inch QD-OLED panels.
The 24.5-inch size is widely used in gaming monitors for FPS and e-sports, where split-second decisions and precise inputs are critical, as the screen size makes it easier to take in the full display at a glance.
QD-OLED delivers sharp, dynamic visuals with a response time of around 0.03 milliseconds. Its self-emissive technology produces perfect blacks, while quantum dot color purity enables a wide color gamut — rendering fine shadow detail and vivid hues with equal clarity.
According to market research firm Omdia, Samsung Display shipped about 2.5 million QD-OLED monitor panels last year, capturing roughly 75 percent of the global self-emissive monitor panel market.
At Gamescom 2026, Samsung Display joined co-marketing efforts with global game developers including Capcom, Krafton and CD Projekt Red.
The company showcased new and flagship titles from each developer on QD-OLED-equipped gaming monitors, highlighting the display technology's picture quality to gamers worldwide.
A video introducing "QD-OLED Penta Tandem," the premium technology brand trademarking Samsung Display's five-stack QD-OLED structure, was also screened at the Krafton booth.
"Gaming is the content through which consumers can most directly experience a display's response speed and picture quality," said Jung Yong-wook, senior vice president and head of strategic marketing at Samsung Display's large display business division. "We will continue to raise awareness of the differentiated gaming experience that only QD-OLED can offer, expand our lineup to include the 24.5-inch size, and further strengthen our leadership in the premium gaming market."
