A Chinese international student in her 20s who went missing in Daegu on Thursday was found dead six days later, police said Tuesday.
The North Gyeongsang Province Police Agency said it had arrested a man in his 30s, identified only as B, on suspicion of murder in connection with the death of the woman, identified only as A.
Officers executed an arrest warrant for B at around 7:29 p.m. Tuesday in Gyeongsan, North Gyeongsang Province, and found A's body at his residence in Hayang-eup, Gyeongsan.
A had traveled to Daegu on the night of Thursday and lost contact with her family shortly after. Her last known whereabouts were traced to Dongdaegu Station.
Police said they identified B as a suspect while tracking A's movements and detected signs of criminal activity in the process. Authorities plan to conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death and are investigating B's motive and the specific circumstances of the case. Police also plan to search B's residence and other locations to gather additional evidence.
