Seoul Metropolitan Council Speaker Im Man-gyun visited Seoul National Cemetery in Dongjak-gu on Tuesday morning to pay his respects, ahead of the opening of the 12th Seoul Metropolitan Council's first extraordinary session.
Im laid flowers and offered incense before the Memorial Tower alongside fellow council lawmakers, observing a moment of silence.
After the tribute, Im wrote in the guestbook: "We will build a capable council for citizens upon the sacrifice of patriots who died for the nation."
At the 339th Extraordinary Session, set to open at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Im is expected to deliver an opening address outlining the 12th Council's operational direction and its key priorities for the session — including livelihoods, public safety and residential stability.
The extraordinary session runs through Sept. 11, an 18-day schedule during which the council will deliberate and vote on questions related to Seoul city administration and education policy, as well as submitted agenda items.
